The Tri City Chargers Youth Football Organization will begin the 2020 football season according to the IDPH, CDC and St Charles Park District return to play guidelines. As we get ready for returning to play, we are focused on ensuring the safety of our players, coaches and spectators. TCC will follow guidance of state and local agencies and will be implementing additional procedures and recommendations to ensure we mitigate risk of exposure to Covid-19 to the best of our ability.
First and foremost, these guidelines are not optional. Coaches and players are required to adhere to the rules and parent involvement is strongly recommended.
General Program Information
-All players must have a waiver form turned into the program prior to picking up equipment.
-Parents are asked to monitor symptoms and report them to coach and the program as they arise. This ensures the safety of your child and those within the program. Symptoms include cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, muscle pain, sore throat and loss of taste or smell. Players should not attend team activities if they have any of the above symptoms and they should notify their coach of these symptoms as soon as possible.
-Players must notify the league at firstname.lastname@example.org of possible Covid-19 situation. Immediate family and the program will act in accordance with state health guidelines.
-No sharing of personal equipment such as helmets, shoulder pads, jerseys, water bottles (players will have all their own equipment).
-Team snacks are prohibited.
-It is required that parents provide players with their own hand sanitizer.
-Bathrooms facilities will be limited and water fountains will not be available.
-No seeds, gum, or spitting of any kid.
-Spectators from different households should practice social distancing of 6 feet at all times and remain in designated areas.
-Out of respect for all families, spectators are expected to stay out of areas that are designated for players/coaches during games and practice.
-It is recommended that families limit the number of spectators to 2 per household and individuals that are immune compromised or at higher risk not attend.
-Spectator areas will be designated from goal line to goal line and 30 feet behind players and coaches.
Practices and Games
-Players must arrive at practices and games dressed in the required gear and holding their helmet.
-From parking lot to practice space, players must wear a face covering.
-Upon arrival to practice space coaches will conduct a temperature check. Players with a temperature over 100.4 will be sent home.
-After the temperature check is complete and the player is cleared, he/she will be allowed to remove face covering, sanitize their hands and start practice.
-There will be a designated team break every 30 mins of practice for every player to get water and sanitize their hands.
-Equipment including footballs, bags, and tackling dummies will be sanitized by the coaches after every practice and game.
-Coaches will be required to wear a face covering during practice and games.
-Players and coaches are discouraged from using traditional high-fives, fist bumps, etc. and should use alternative ways to celebrate such as air high-fives.
-Practice times will be limited to 6 hours per week.
-Coaches are required to take attendance at every practice and game.
-If a player or coach on a TCC team tests positive for Covid-19, that player will not be allowed at practice and will need a letter from a physician to return to play. Parents will be notified that a player has tested positive and will recommend (not required) teammates to get tested.
-If a total of 3 members from a team (players and coaches) tests positive for Covid-19 at a time, that entire team will be required to quarantine at home for 14 days. It will be recommended for all players and coaches to get tested. Any player that tests positive will need a letter from a physician to return to play.
-Per leagues we are in communication with about the season: All teams have an opportunity to participate in playoffs regardless of games missed due to quarantine status.
-Due to recent changes from the governor's office, if a player or coach travels to one of the states identified by the governor's office, that player or coach will have to quarantine for 14 days.
-It is recommended that practice or game clothing is washed after each practice or game.
Recommendations for Parents:
-Please monitor your child’s daily health.
-Per the directions above, please notify the head coach if your child tests positive or has been in contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19.
-Please adhere to the drop-off and pick-up locations/procedures that are above and will be communicated by the head coach.
-All athletes will be required to leave practice or games fields immediately at the conclusion of practices and games. We appreciate you picking them up on time.
-Carpooling between players from different teams is discouraged. Let's work together to keep everyone healthy, safe and active.
In closing, this indeed is a lot of information and work. As we stated earlier in a previous email, we know there are risks. We are trying to take every possible safety measure to ensure participants, families and coaches are safe and keeping kids active. As a reminder, all TCC board members and coaches are volunteers and as such we strive to do our best to monitor any changes to recommendations surrounding returning to plan and continuation of play. We reserve the right to modify or change any of these guidelines at any time as safety is our top priority.
